Math

Our new math curriculum is enVisionmath2.0! The content is developed with focus, coherence, and rigor. The attention to rigor reflects a balance of conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and applications. Each student will be provided with a workbook that covers the content being taught throughout the various lessons and topics. An assessment will be given after each topic. For math fact practice, students will be using XtraMath and for extra math practice, students will be using IXL.

Reading

Our reading curriculum consists of the Wonders program. The program consists of six units with six weeks of lessons. Each lesson has a weekly concept and essential question. There will be two sessions a day. One being a whole group session and the other being a small group with differentiated instruction. Assessing will start out paper-pencil and then will be done online. Students will have online access to activities in the Wonders program. A password will be assigned. For extra reading practice, students will be using Epic.

Spelling

Spelling is a component of the Wonders Reading program. Students will have practice every day and will take a spelling test on Friday. A spelling list will be sent home on Mondays. For extra spelling practice, students will be using SpellingCity.

Language Arts is also included in the Wonders Reading program. In grammar we will be covering sentences, nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions. In writing we will be covering how to write a friendly letter, a personal narrative, a how-to story, an expository writing, an opinion letter, a book review, a fictional narrative, poetry, an opinion essay, and a research report.
